Trip to Egypt, April 2005

The Westbank 6 - Deir el Bahri

The Upper Court

Passing through the gallery...

...brings you into the upper court, recently opened for visitors.
Each of these niches held statues of Hatshepsut.

A portal standing now by itself just as you enter the court.
Two Heru falcons on each side of the pillars wearing the Doublecrown.

Directly in front of the portal, the shrine of Amun-Re.
There are other small chapels on this terrace, all of them closed for vvsitors.

In the left hand corner of the court is a space for storing finds from here.

Zooming in on a shelf brings these glyphs in sight.

Fragments on rocks lie here and there.

So much more to see but time is short. A second visit is a must.

A very good page about Deir el Bahri.
