Philae, The Hypostyle Hall


As always, the site is swarming with people, itīs easy to direct your camera upwards to get a 'tourist-free' shot
and here you are rewarded with beautiful columnheads.


Another play of sun and shadow.


Everywhere carvings...


No trace of color is left here but the bare stone still tell of past beauty.


Just to compare, I added this litography of the Hypostyle Hall by David Roberts,
where the original colors are displayed.


A door leads out towards the eastern shoreline, bathing in sunlight.
Groups kept pouring into the Shrine and all a camera would have shown were the backs of tourists... so there are no photos of that.



Reliefs on the walls in the transverse halls and the rooms to each side of the Sanctuary
were however not occluded.
Here Pharaoh carries forward an offering of incense.
