Trip to Egypt, April 2005

The Luxor Temple 4

The Court of Amenhotep and beyond.

The massive pillars in the Processional Colonnade are over 19 m (62 ft 3 in) tall.

The so called Sun court of Amenhotep III and the Hypostyle Hall behind which is seen to the right the apse for the Roman cult of the emperors.

The western part of the court.
(I think itīs interesting to note the difference
in eastern and western dress style of the two women in the picture ;))

Pharaoh in Atef crown bringing cattle for offering.
I think this relief is from the 'Chamber of the Divine King'.

"An offering which the King gives.... thousands of bread, thousands of beer..."
Though not optimum in quality, this photo is interesting, showing a list of
offerings. Itīs from the same room as above. (I think.)

A view of the temple area from outside the precinct.
Roman remains in the foreground.

The sun sets behind the Western mountains,
giving us the same view as the ancients looked at.
