Trip to Egypt, April 2005

The Luxor Temple

and some sights along the way

Returning to the river after the first visit on the Westbank offered some interesting sights.
Here is the cruiseship 'Sudan', a gorgeous old paddle-steamer still in service.
It was on this one Agastha Christie´s novel 'Murder on the Nile' was made into a movie.

More mundane sights; the Egyptian garbage boat.

Sharing some jokes before we go ashore.

A roundabout surrounded with Bast statues...

...and a small fountain with Khepri.

The First Pylons, entrance to the Opet Temple at Luxor.
At our backs is...

...the famous Avenue of Sphinxes, the processional way which ran all the way
from the Opet temple to the Temple of Amun at Karnak.

Closeup on a few of the sphinxes.

Into the temple here.
