Trip to Egypt, April 2005

Edfu 3:
Some Inner Parts of the Temple of Heru.

This little image is the result of much huffing and puffing and stretching of necks. Also some editing and cutting - but no flash was used! ;)Though not a very good view, at least you can faintly see the frieze of lovely papyrus flowers inside of the Naos, and also notice that there are two winged discs on the lintels.
The fence is probably put there to stop people from climbing into the naos, or littering there.

The Naos is surrounded by rooms and in the one directly behind it, the replica of the processional barque is.
We were lucky here, to find an opening between some heads! ;)

In one of these many smaller rooms, there is this beautiful relief of Aset embracing Pharaoh.

In the same room, a line of baboons follow Pharaoh, all performing the 'henu' gesture.

And in another room (sorry I forgot which) the Heb Sed festival is celebrated.
In the top register, Pharaoh is making his run around the court, and below
he is pouring libations before Aset and Heru.

From the Second Hypostyle Hall, something not generally seen;
a relief depicting the Souls of Pe and Nekhen.
